Fi sounds like its bottoming out only on high notes

Tuning too low also combined with possibly loading on the vehicle to tune even lower can cause excursion issues at higher frequencies. The port reduces excursion most at it's actual tuning (of course) then about 1/3 octave either way.
Say you tuned to 32 Hz -- loading in the car across a nearby surface drops you to 28 Hz -- then your port is only working to reduce excursion up to ~37 Hz or so.
wait. when a box is loaded into the trunk. and the port is near the trunk wall. it drops the frequency even lower?

I'm not worried about my tuning changing, im more worried about that popping noise now

It's not clipping, and i doubt its overdriving the woofer. The BL is rated for 1500 and with box rise im probably never seeing that from the SK-1500.1 Itll pop but play the song back at that exact point and it wont. Sometimes highs sometimes lows (never LOW LOWs though)

mine was the back deck it had a smaall rip in it...... ooops. pulled 2 subs for nothing
I was about to pull the sub apart and look at the internals and do free air testing. I just took it to a local shop i just happened to pass by and they immediately isolated the problem to the deck. They recommended sealing off the deck speakers if i choose to keep using them lol
