any sub i buy will be 12" and box will be UP TO 3.5 cubes before all displacements. not sure on tuning. need help with that.

will be powering with a Rockford fosgate t1500 so the sub needs to be D2.

which one will get the lowest?

which one will get the loudest?

which one has the best sq?

Level 4 XL is a league above all of those //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Might want to rephrase that chief. LVL 4 uses a standard motor structure with inherently MUCH higher disortion, no shorting rings, no optimized BL curve just a standard 1988 overhung driver. Other than a little more resting BL (again once the cone moves past 8mm I doubt the LVL 4 has more BL) I see nothing about the DC lvl 4 that even keeps it remotely close to the Shiva X. Well, other than the fact you can beat on it like an idiot and not break it because it's designed for teenagers who don't actually plan on listening to music with it.

Unless your goal is to burp and put up numbers on a meter or if you dont' know how to properly set gains on an amplfier the Shiva X will be the best out of the three criteria you listed all things considered. Loud and Low generally dont' go hand in hand as you sacrifice bandwidth for effeciency when porting. The shiva will always have less distortion so it's the best SQ choice and I doubt you'll hear any SPL advantage the DC sound lab sub has as it's probably less than a db.

Yes, I can hear loooads of distortion from 30-70 Hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I see you also forgot that the box decides how the sub will sound as well...

i am a teenager and need something to get fairly loud.

i am replacing 4 dd 1508s so i want something with sq cause these really dissapointed me (sq wise) but the are loud as fvck

x2

i have a dc lvl 3 with lvl 4 soft parts, 1200 watts, 3 cubes@33hz plenty loud, kinda too loud.

that shiva will sound great and get loud.

im not sure the design of the fi q vs the shiva, but the q will sound good and get loud too. probably louder than the shiva but less sq, thats a guess though.

A shiva X can get very loud. It uses the same coil size as the DC LVL 4 and has similar BL. It also has a BL optimized motor so it'll keep a constant BL as the coil leaves the gap, good for both SQ and SPL. The only thing I'd worry about with the shiva is that since it's a XBL^2 motor it will show basically no signs of distress before it breaks lol. They are completely clean when driven hard and won't really move past xmax so they are impossible to break mechanically, but can smoke thermally. Trick with the drivers is to only turn up the gains until the sub stops getting louder once you reach that point, even though the gain "can" go higher and it doesn't sound bad like most drivers will, your just taking unnecessary risks.

Basically the DC is more idiot proof but will not sound as good. The Shiva is an amazing blend of SQ and SPL but you have to know how to not abuse a speaker. It'll take the 1000 it's rated for no issue though and I already said how to know when enough is enough. I gave my AA avalanche which uses asmaller coil about 1200 watts all the time and I only smoked it when I finally wanted too. (three minutes of white girl with gains maxed out, song was right at tuning so cone was stationary lol)

Anyway between the FI Q and the shiva, again the shiva has a bit more BL as well as effeciency, it's basically a similar driver but better in pretty much every way.

The AV12's would be another driver to look at. Lots of Bl considering the mms on it so it'll get loud and it is a good sq woofer too.
