And solo x owners say theirs sound really good, MT owners, etc. Generally speaking, an SPL oriented woofer has different design characteristics than a sub designed for optimum SQ. The SPL sub will get loud, but at a cost to SQ. Can you make one of these subs sound 'good' in the right environment? Yes, but I prefer my daily system to sound 'great'. If I rally need the couple extra db's a SPL woofer would gain over a solid SQL driver, Id just upsize or add SQL subs till I had the desired bass.
Surely there's an SQL driver out there that can give you the [amount] of bass you want, with much less concern about the loss in SQ. But to each their own, many people like running SPL oriented drivers for music. *shrug*
