Fi Bl ....a good mix of sp and sq?

a friend of mine just picked up a BL and a SAZ3000D. hes pick up a second BL in a week or two, but we have high hopes for this set up.

building the box for it next week, so if your still looking in the next few weeks, maybe i can give you a better idea of how it worked out.

I'd get 2 13" jl audio w6v2-d4's and be done with it. They'd get decently loud and sound great. Some of the best sq woofers out there.
While I completely agree with you, I have a feeling the OP will toast something like a W6v2 in short order //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

it should i have four 12" fi btls in my garage im planning on building a wall in a 96 sunfire lol. but everybody is telling me the btls have hardly no sq what so ever. so the bls may be more on the spl side than sq. because it is the right behind the btl for the top of the line sub for fi.

The BL Series fills the gap between the all out SPL monster and a solid daily driver. Featuring a solid pole piece and standard double stack motor structure as the foundation for a truly tough subwoofer, you can choose from a variety of options to custom tailor the sub for your exact application. With the addition of the pole chamfer or axial cooling channels along with the Daily option, you can bump up the subs thermal capacity for long term daily driving abuse. Looking for an ultra tough higher Qts SPL sub? Choose the SPL option, the extreme lead wire, one of the 8 layer aluminum flatwind voicecoils, add power, and let it rip. With head cracking upper bass and brutal low end, the BL handles the extremes with ease.

hope this helps straight from fi.

I've heard SSD (an owned them), Q's, and BLs.

Your best bet if you want a good mix is either the SSD or Q depending on how much power you have.

SSDs sound great and get very loud (you can get more output from a BL, but as far as SQ, and my definition of SQ in this case will be "can mimic musical instruments," SSD sounds much better. Not impressed with the BL, loud, but not for me.

The Q's will get a lot louder than most people seem to think. I guess b/c they got the label as the "SQ" sub out of Fi's lineup everybody assumes it has no output.

Bottom line is if you are trying to choose a sub that you want for a car that you drive daily, you best bet is either SSD or Q.

So you think :

SSD > BL as far as quality wise

Q > SSD quality wise

BUT

SSD > Q in SPL

Sound right?

Why am i only considering FI ?

Seems once you have your heart on something nothing else really compares IMO

As long as i have a GOOD enclosure with a GOOD Install i should be happy with the SPL of a Q....correct.....comparing to type r's btw

Woah woah, a few too many assumptions.

SQ: Q>= SSD > BL > BTL

SPL: BTL > BL > Q > SSD

Is is more or less going down the line of subs. Correct. GOOD INSTALL and enclosure are very much key. How many R's are we talking about? R's sound like garbage, but do have the potential to get very loud.

Whether or not you will like how loud a Q is we couldn't tell you. You have to understand that everything is subjective. Some people like their subs louder than others, that is just how it will always be.

True. I agree with pretty much everything said here. I think I'm just biased to the Q b/c Fi Q's and the older SI Mags are my favorite subs. They sound good and can get loud with sealed or ported enclosures. Only heard SI at a show once, I was amazed. Q sounds similar, both can hit low notes well. I just wasn't impressed with Fi BLs, they were loud, but didn't feel like they could play musical notes very well... kind of hard to describe, but I just didn't like the tone of the sub that much.
