FI 15BTL comparable to a XXX15?

After I listened to the XXX15 I fell in love with it. The loudest clean sounding sub I've heard. The ones I listened to were the new model, so I'm not sure how they compare to the old ones. If it were me, I'd just keep it and upgrade the amp and box. If you like how it sounds, why mess with a good thing really?

no,no,no dont compare similiar subs! dont you know btl's are sq subs!!!!
Not exactly sure where you got that from.

I said it has the potential to sound very good, given the right hands...

But then again i can make a MT sound good too...as well as a juggernaut..

Experience is key //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

both my btl and my mt sounded DECENT, didnt get real low, though... tuned to 32 hz.... maybe i did something wrong, or maybe i like the way a sub thats made for sq sounds over that of an spl sub?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif btw- why are you trying to argue sq with me? you of all people know how subjective that is, i would hope //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and to me- both the mt and the btl sounded merely decent, at best....

The myth that a BTL cannot sound good is nothing more then that...a myth //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Sounds **** good in the home theater...enough to really make the neighbors LOVE me as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
are you the guy that has the 4 15's

Is it just me or do most successful SPL subs exhibit peaky responses? This is what I generally equate to their success. But then, its a lousy characteristic to have if you are wanting a relatively flat response (for music).

But hey what do I know, I didnt spend the cash on an SPL sub and am now trying to convince myself sounds like an SQL sub either. Maybe if I were one of those people, my 'subjective' view of SQ would be different.

I swear, some people think they can have it all.

What everybody is forgetting that the sub can be modified to be a beast of an spl oriented sub...to the other extreme if you so wish //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif...

Just the beauty of picking and choosing what you want in a sub, instead of pointing your finger at one and saying "i want that one" and thats what you get. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

More options...more choices to come in the future none of which involve xbl^2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I assume you are talking about the BTL, copper coil, tighter gap, etc? But then, it wouldn't be the BTL everyone raves about for doing so well in the SPL lanes. If the sub is built for a peaky response, it wont perform like a SQ sub while playing music. But sure, if you buy an 'SPL' sub from a company that can/will change things on it (like FI), that's a different story, and not what I was commenting on.
Not sure why you mentioned xbl^2.

Mentioned the xbl because of others thinking we 'may' use the technology //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif don't want that to get out because we aren't...

Most people don't grasp that all BTL's aren't equal lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Will you be using any form of BL optimization?
