finally got the system all together.... but its in boxes in my room. weve got a weekend coming up in englishland so im planning to do it then. Pretty sure what im doing, like connecting what to what, but im absoloutly s***ing myself about drilling from under the hood, through the firewall and into the car. i can just imagine myself doing it, going straight through the dash, setting off 3 airbags in the process. and then all the wheels falling off.

do i drill from under the hood into the car or the other way round? and where abouts am i aiming for? like through the glove compartment? under the glove compartment? through the steering wheel?!

Id appreciate any advice youve got from past experiences

thanks guys

rick

you may not have to drill if it freaks you out that much..

You have other alternatives. You can look for a firewall grommet and shove the wire through that. you can also run the wire along the underside of your car. Make sure to zip tie it along the way so it doesnt drag. Then just drill a hole in your trunk.

Its not that big of a deal, really. More than likely there will be an existing grommet that you can use. If not, just look for a spot on the firewall that is clear on both sides.

Yeah half the time you already have wires going through where you can easily drill. For example on most horns a wire goes throught the firewall to the steering wheel or wherever it goes. Disconnect that wire from the horn, drill a bigger hole and run both wires. There should almost always be an existing hole that you can just run it through or "biggen" up.

drilling isnt a big deal at all, just make sure you know what is on the back side of what you are drilling through, that is the only knowledge you really need. take a look under the dash and see where you can, the take a look in the engine compartment and see if it is possible.
