Alright.... I'm tempted to spend money on another setup but before I go that route I'm trying to determine if I'll be able to get what I need out of my current setup. So, the setup includes:

Alpine iva-w205 bought in October with remote, pac tr-7 bypass, cage, accessories, and iPod cable. 10/10 cosmetically and functions fine. I still have the box, too.

Alpine pxa-h701. 7/10 cosmetically but hasn't given me any issues. Just not pretty up top cause of being stored under a seat for about 6 months.

Thinking of about $970 starting point.

The breakdown is like this:

w205 - $640

h701 - $330

iPod cable (thrown in if you buy the package)

^ control right at your fingertips.
I have a c701 as well. And now also have a w505. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I use the c701 for RTA tuning. I can tap the controller into my h701 in the trunk and stand outside of the car while running all my RTA stuff, controlling the volume with the c701.
But with the W205, you can control the H701 with your fingertips as well. So I don't see the big advantage. If you're talking about using the mic for tuning, I could see that, but it still doesn't seem worth it.

I bought the mic when I was going to go with a carPC. Wound up getting the w505 instead. Kept the controller.

When you're trying to dial everything in from your listening seat, it sure messes things up when you have to lean over every second and touch the h/u. With the c701, I can hold it in my hands and do adjustments while I'm listening. Can also tap it directly to the h701 from the trunk while doing RTA and make changes from back there. It makes things MUCH easier.

What do you drive that you have to lean over to make adjustments? That would get on my nerves if I drove something where the head unit (especially a screen) was so far away.

Civic. I put the seat back as far as possible, but it's still upright. I have to lean forward a few inches to change settings.

I do this to have with path length differences, but I flat out don't see how anyone can have a car where they don't have to lean forward to touch the cd player. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

for this reason, I wish i have the controller as well.

Seriously? I dunno. Maybe that's a Honda thing. In my Explorer, the radio is right there within reach. I don't even have to extend my arm all the way, much less lean forward. I would hate that if I had to at all in any car. This is with the seats all the way back. It's just ergonomics. It's been the same for me in a Mustang, Expedition, Escort, Focus, Sebring, F-150, Sportage, etc. I'm surprised that you would expect to have to lean forward. Are you a midget or something? lol

I had a 2000 Explorer 4-door. Had to lean forward, but not as far as in the Civic. The dash is just further away overall.

The guy is right. This unit goes new with warranty for 600-650 on ebay. Used it should sell 500-550 depending on its condition. Not post dumping, just informing you since this is just a feeler. I am personally looking into buying a w205 so thats why I am bargaining.
