The Matrix and Star Wars IV, V and VI are tied for first.

Chasing Amy was dumb, so for that reason alone, it bumps Kevin Smith movies down. Although Mallrats is quite possibly my favorite movie ever.

LOTR pwns all. Just the sheer amount of work that went into those is staggering. IDK why, but I never much liked Star Wars.

I think the Bourne series, had it been a standalone movie trilogy rather than an adaptation, would have been pretty good, but after reading the books, the story is so butchered it's not even funny.

Another butchered storyline that is good without having read the books is Patriot Games, The Hunt for Red October, and Clear and Present Danger. Too bad the Jack Ryan series is so long and jumbled to make a real trilogy out of though.
