Favorite MLB Team

Originally posted by Phatillusion Ranger I know your not on the board as much anymore, but how bout them Braves, they look like the team to beat right now. Excellent pitching, decent hitting, haven't heard much of Chipper, but if his bat comes around, things could start looking awfully rough for opposing teams. But then again, you got the Yankees, who are buying up all the big named players that are being put on the trading market. They really need to put some kind of salary cap on baseball.
Three things Baseball needs to survive:

1. Salary Cap (possible profit sharing)

2. Steroid Testing

3. A new Comish (Bud Selig is an ***)

I'm impressed with the Braves, but there will be no World Series this year, the strike will come with about 3 weeks left in the season...I hope I'm wrong though...

Your right, there will be a strike.

1. Won't happen, ball players are greedy, it's not basketball or football where the great players will take less $$ to try to win a championship. (those are the players that get my respect)

2. Somebody is gonna have to grow some balls in the MLB office, and bud selig doesn't have the cojones to do so.

3. I agree, he thinks like an owner, that is why he is where he is. "Bud Selig" for the owners, by the owners.

I wouldn't say never. If the price is right, they will have no choice. There will be some that say I have nothing to hide, and I hope my fellow players say the same thing. It is something that can be agreed upon, but will not be easy. It will be a give/get type of deal, the players would give in to the steroid testing, but they will want something in exchange.

MONEY...that's all they ever want, but what they don't realize, is that there will not be any MLB for my kids or your kids if they keep this up like they have...greed not always money is the root of all evil.

I agree 100%, but nobody can do anything about it. It is strictly up to the players. It's not like the Texas Rangers Organization can go up to A-Rod and say "you know that 252 million? We'd like to reduce that to 52 Million." A-Rod might love baseball, but I doubt he would play for 3 Mil or less. Don't get me wrong, there are players that would take a pay cut to help out. But they are far and few. To top it off, the owners started the huge salary deal. Sometimes things come back to nip you in the @ss.

I agreed on the salary cap. The Yankees is just a $$ team. Too many of them is getting overpaid especially Giambi..20mil? I wish Bill Gates would buy up the Mariners and invest like 500 mil in players lol. See how the Yankees feel about that!
