Fatmat compared to Dynamat

Between those 2 products, Dynamat Extreme all the way

The foil is twice as thick

The adhesive is designed to be used in a car

The product is designed to reduce vibrations.

The owner of fatmat also owns a roofing supply distrobution company.

All he does is buy large amounts of roofing tape, and put a new label on the box, and calls it a sound deadener. It looks similar and is very cheap so enough unsuspecting customers buy it, buying in to the hype. Truth is, fatmat is nothing more than a roofing tape. Same stuff, through 2 different owners in the last 10 years.

Dynamat on the other hand brough the contraint layer damper to the aftermarket and makes a far superior product. It coses more, but requires much less to get similar results.

i can attest to the non-stick ability of fatmat. it will fail and just end up sitting there on the car not doing very much. on the bright side - when you decide to redo your deadener install, you can just peal fatmat off the car and start over. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Fatmat Review - SMD Forum steve mead give it some good reviews so i think im safe
he'll say anything for $$$ - i don't think that's a good source for a product review.

i am telling you that i can peal it off my car after a few years, even after one year i could peal it off. i put 150 sq. ft. on and it's worthless. Luckily i'm not out a lot of money, just a lot of time. i completely cleaned all surfaces, applied in appropriate temperatures, applied adequate pressure rolling it on, and still it peals off.

Ant is telling you it's roofing material not designed for a car. Ant knows his stuff.

Its asphalt based, it wants heat, and lots of it. Many years ago when Id install asphalt mat, many of the sheets Id get were old, stiff and not as sticky. A heat gun made it 10x more sticky. Unfortunately this also helps promote the asphalt to out-gas faster, making it break down faster and ultimately shortening its lifespan.

Yet another reason I moved to butyl and never looked back. No heat needed.

yeah im going to return the fatmat i just ordered the dynamat extreme trunk kit. if anyone one has a few sheets laying around they can't use i will buy them off you if the price is right

hey bro you have the same tear impala as i do i put dynamat on the trunk lid and it helped me out alot when i get back from the sandbox i will be dynamating my whole car i did the doors as well but i am in spl comps and it helps with keeping the pressure in the car for higher numbers
