False Floors

depends, usually they are simply a piece of wood cut out in the shape of the area you are covering up so it looks like it is the floor, but their is stuff under it, they are not a substitute for a box, but they can be combinded with a box like in the back of a hatch to make for a nice clean install..

Okay....so let's say for a blazer....I would build the box....then cover it with a huge piece of wood to make it look like the floor...and the false floor would just end up lookin like one huge box anyways cause you would have to extend a piece to the floor so you couldn't see underneath it

Yeah basically, its kinda supposed to look like one huge box built into the car.

False floors are more traditionally used to hide amplifiers though, nobody will mistake a huge built in box for a floor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Yah...that looks nice...I am thinkin that I want a false floor also...cept I want my subwoofers to be below the floor and pointing upwards...not sure how hard that would be...I've seen it plenty of times in car trunks...but I don't recall seeing it in an SUV...Also...how in the world did you get your box to look like that....Did ya fiberglass it and put in boat flake or what? THanks for the help guys

all i used was regular black car paint that was sprayed with a spray gun and used metal flakes in the first layer of clear and then sprayed another layer of clear on top of that with out flakes. no fiberglass was used just mdf and alot of sanding. also do u have a pic of how u want your amps mounted in the false floor cuz i could give you a help with that.

You could do like I did in my explorer. Cut out the cargo area, and weld in an eigth inch steel tub. This will give you the best possible falce floor. The only broblem that I have with mine is that My new sub needs such a large box that there is no way I could mount it in the tub that I have built.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif But I am going to install my batterys and amps in there instead.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
