faceplate and headlights? HU problems

I've had my headunit installed for a week now and in that

period of time a brake light has gone out and a headlight has

gone out. I think both happened when I was putting the faceplate

on while driving first while braking and another time when my headlights

were on. I also noticed that after my headunit was installed my headlights

or other lights dim when i'm starting my car or when I turn on the rear window

defroster. Are these common problems?? or should i get something checked out...

My car battery had died when I originally installed the headunit but I thought

it was due to my battery being old/a loose negative cable. However, after

these other incidences I'm not so sure if I installed something wrong (the only

thing i can think of that I did wrong was ground it incorrectly) or if my headunit

is just sapping too much electricity.

any help/suggestions/comments would be appreciated!

I'm just not sure if these are normal problems or if I have done something

horrendous to my car. I've had a lot of anxiety since the battery problems =S

I doubt very much that your head unit has anything to do with the other problems. Did you replace the battery?
i did replace the battery when my car died because it was

completely drained, i couldn't even jump start my car so had

to get it towed.

Sounds like your alternator isn't hooked up. Did you unplug anything on it? Take the radio out and ground it to something other than the harness.
i don't even know what my alternator looks like so I haven't unplugged anything

from it. I also don't think it's my alternator because I've been driving around for

about a week with my new battery and so far it's been okay besides the few

busted lights, haha. Or could that just be because my battery still has a bunch

of juice because it's new?? I would also expect my check battery light to turn

on on my dash if my alternator were busted...

My radio isn't grounded to my harness right now because someone on the

forums said that Nissans don't have a ground connection to the harness

so i connected it to a piece of metal inside of my dash that looked like it went in pretty deep and would connect to my vehicle's chassis.
