I have a Compaq Presario S3100nx. This is for the average joe, who regulary browses the internet, plays simple games such as solitaire, spades, et., running Microsoft applications for homework assignments. I believe it has a software issue, which can be easily fixed with a complete reboot(fresh install of the operating system).
