ok so im designing a new box and my vent is too close the the back wall of my box the vent is 4x13 and is only 2 inches from the back (im looking for 4 inches correct?) i dont really want to have to bend it and wouldnt mind making it stick out the front of the box, but is this a bad idea or should it work fine?

well you have 2 choices:

-use a bend in the port

-have it partly external

well maybe 3 choices, build a new box. lol

External is actually better. Some people just don't like it because of how it looks.

Yea, external is fine.... but why not a bend so it is all internal and looks a little nicer??

i think it will look cool coming out of the box. but the reason i dont want a bend is because i would have to put a random peice at the back so that the openings on either side would be 2x13 to maintain my 4x13 at the exit and their would be air space behind that peice on one side and then the port on the other. idk that just seems werid to me.

yea ive seen em before but i didnt know if there needed to be somthing special done with them to make them work properly. mine will be square tho and i will make it look nice route the edges and possibly make a wedge so it angles out for better cosmetics. nice amps BTW i love my ZX700.5

yup, kicker amps FTW! it's a ZX550.2, and ZX750.1. i plan to add a 3rd one soon, a zx200.2 for my tweeters now that i am running an active front stage.

External makes it easier to change tuning without changing internal volume.Athetically it looks funny.

the first picture is my origional design. the second is what i would have to do to acheive the bend. idk if i like the idea of putting that werid random peice in there to keep the same over all area.

no opinions on this? also if i made the port stick out 3 inches do you think if i mad that removeable that id be able to notice a difference between having it on or off? its only a difference of about 2 hz so idk or should i just got for 34 hz and call it a day. with 34 hz will i still be able to drop bottom?
