External Hard Drives

The case is for the internal HDD, which will be used externally once cased, if that makes sense...

The following are maximum theoretical speeds:
USB 1.1 = 1.5 MB/s

USB 2.0 = 60 MB/s

Firewire = 50 MB/s

Time to transfer 1 GB:

USB 1.1 = 11 minutes, 23 seconds

USB 2.0 = 17.1 seconds

Firewire = 20.5 seconds

Time to transfer 10 GB:

USB 1.1 = 1 hour, 53 minutes, 47 seconds

USB 2.0 = 2 minutes, 51 seconds

Firewire = 3 minutes, 25 seconds

Time to transfer 100 GB:

USB 1.1 = 19 hours

USB 2.0 = 28 minutes, 27 seconds

Firewire = 34 minutes, 8 seconds

theres a VS review on this somewhere. Proves USB 2.0 is actually slower than firewire 400. I'll find it.

Based on actual numbers, you would be correct. But in this case, USB loses again.
