Extended warranties

If something breaks because you dropped it....you're not gonna be covered. So, what good would that do ya? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
my girl just bought a new digi camera from wolf camera. it is covered for 2 or 3 years for 59 bucks, accidental or not. that is the best plan i have heard of so far.

Ok. So who's a fan? Going to buy a head unit, most probably 880PRS. It'll have a 1 year warranty through the dealer. They extended at $39 per year. So $39 to get a two year warranty. Think it's worth it?
$39 for a 2 year warranty, hell yea that is worth it. on a HU that cost that much and has that many functions and features anything may go wrong in 2 years and it good to know your covered

Well, not always the case. If you drop your camera and the lense shoots off, obviously it won't be covered. You bump it or knock it into something and it doesn't show signs of being dropped physically, they probably will.

until you dont have a receipt and they magically cant find your records in the computer. yea, that happened to me over there too. i blew an amp for a home theater woofer, then they sent it out to be repaired at their expense after fighting with them over the records and what not. then they send me a bill for the repair. those ****ers. funny thing is that the bill was more than i bought the thing for. those shiesty *****es. never got paid either.
easy, keep your receipt. dont be irresponsible and blame it on others

I would say no. The fact of the matter is that warranties are big money makers, and statistically speaking that manufacturers are making product so good nowadays (to minimize returns) that the warranties aren't really needed.
Also, if you are buying a $300 head unit, by next year it might be $250, and 2 years from now it might be $200. So you get a $200 head unit (when you will probably want the latest and greatest).

Warranties are big money makers, and are basically insurance policies. Typically you insure stuff you can't live without (car, house, belongings inside the house, significant other's income, etc.)

With technology the way it is, do you really see yourself wanting to have that radio in 2 years?

I bet you will get a few people who say "I bought the warranty and used it". But for the most part if you posted "How many bought a warranty and never used it" you would get a ton more of replies.

Juan
WRONG most if not all places give you a credit of what you paid for the item not what the value of the item is whern you return it.

funny thing is, now i am having a problem with Good Guys. still have the receipt showing the purchase for my $1500 velodyne home subwoofer that blew up yesterday and the extended service plan i purchased for it. however, when i call GE who handles their warrenties, they have no record of me purchasing it and no record of the service plan. no that they cloased all of californias stores, i cant talk to anyone in person to really know whats going on. this is straight up bull shit. i dont even know how the woofer blew, just unplugged it, moved it so the guy could do some sheetrock work, and plugged it back in, woofer gone.

I bought a replacement warranty for a 7" DVD player with screen (portable) and when it broke and I went in for a new one, he would only give me one of the same size (I got a better one, but I could have gotten an 8" one at the same price but he would not let me).

This was at Comp USA. They did do a store credit than you immediately have to use it.

I'm not sure how others do it, so I'm basing it on our experience with that.

Juan

completely true.
