im lookin at one for christmas, is iomega a good company? im lookin at a 160 gb one the "black series" on newegg.com. im using it for music, and most likely just backups, but i want a good size one. what does the cache do? is 2mb cache fine for just music?

Yea, I am getting one for Xmas too. I am getting one through eBay but the guy has 99.7% feedback so Im not worried. $145 shipped for a 250GB 16MB cache, 7200 RPM, Maxtor External HD aint too bad...

cab you build a decent computer for like...500 bucks? nto the screen and mouse and keyboard and all that, but just the tower?

hell ya you can. im building a pretty awesome gaming computer than will run all the new games decently and everything shipped is like ~$686, ya just gotta know how to put it all together right. the first time i built a computer i left a screw under the motherboard so when i turned it on it fried everything, i was pissed to say the least.

Get an internal drive and then buy an external case. newegg, tigerdirect.com and ebay are probably your best bet. I bought a 300gb maxtor a few months ago for $89 + $7 shipping and paid $30 for a really good external case. Don't skimp on the case and make sure you find one that is firewire compatible if your computer has a firewire input.
