Explain Physics

I am still amazed at this 1 12. Now I see why people have 1 woofer setups in their vehicles.
Yep. :p Bet my 15 will beat your 2 12s.

There are many factors that go into the calculation of SPL. One can calculate SPL if they have the difference in pressure in Pa, but there is not a set equation that you can plug T/S into. You're looking for how different variables effect the rate of change of pressure.

Box tuned to 40hz, which means it will peak right around 40hz. This also happens to fall in the region where cabin gain effects are highest.

You already gain basically a free 10db of output in the 40-50hz range, couple that with a box designed to peak around there is why it appears to be so loud.

This explains a lot to me. I have always known the box to be 85-90% of a subwoofers performance.
