So I got my box built for 2 DC lvl 3 12s that should be here soon. Local shop built the box 42 wide 12 tall and 20 deep as I asked. I got tired of waiting so I put some type rs in the box to make sure everything was good to go last night. They sounded good. Not overly loud but a strong deep bass. This morning on the way to work I played that wiz and too short joint, turned a couple clicks on the gain knob and oh $hit what's that popping sound! I pulled over and started checking things out. Subs are fine but popping noise was getting worse. The subs are up firing so I had a friend hold down the box right in-between the subs and popping went away.

I went to the shop to have them brace the box. It had none and 50 pounds of alpines can shake pretty good.

Oh it don't need braces. Your subs are loose and leaking. Ok ok let me tighten them down again. Hhhmmmm. They where a little loose. Crank too short again. And $hit it's popping more.

Took box back to get braced!

Sorry but i already dropped it off. I just got a call about it being ready 4pm tomorrow cause the glue needs to dry. So I guess the found there mistake!

I got the box back a few hours ago and have been beating it since. They found out that a zx1000 and 2 rrrrrrrsss need bracing. They busted 2 seams and the guy said he built a box just like it for 2 w6s and it lasted forever. Hmmmm what does that say?

Anyway. It sounds great. I can't wait to put the DCs in it

zzzz ill tell ya if i had a dime for any jl nonsense on here id be a kajillionaire. I had a 15 type R ported that sounded like dookie and setup my 12w6 and made it sound like a 1989 mtx road thunder yo!!!!!!!!

Kind of makes you wonder what else might be wrong with the box down the rd. If it’s carpeted there is not telling what kind of shortcuts could have been taken. Hope it wrks out for ya though.

I think its going to be OK.. The owner took care of it, I could tell he was very embarassed. He soldered everything down and offered to recarpet it for me.

A box that size should (almost) always have bracing added. And then it took them a day to add the braces so the glue could dry? Sounds like that shop is new to the game.
