Experience with SSA?

Hey everybody. Now, as I continue my search for subs online, I've started looking into a brand called SSA, which I've seen a decent amount of around the forum. Now, do any of you have a decent amount of experience with SSA, specifically the GCON series? How would a 15" GCON sound on about 900w? How's sound quality, and will they get loud? Or will you have to get into the ICONS + to start getting real loud?

The GCONs just came out, i dont think anyone even has one yet. I personally havnt seen a review on them yet, but SSA has a very good rep. If you get on youtube there tons of videos of the DCON(GCONs lil brother) doing WORK on 400wrms and the ICONs/XCONs are just nasty. Everything ive ever read has been positive, although i havnt owned one personally. But im planning on a gcon to replace my OA 12 in the future

The dcons even get loud man, im sure the gcons are going to be nasty. Im pretty sure all the SSA series has decent sq, more about giving it a good box with proper tuning

Thanks for the reply. I've never even read a review of anything SSA, so it's good to get a word on them. If the DCONs do work, I think I'll look into investing into a GCON, putting it on about 900w. I'll check some videos out.

JoshC beat me to it. He is correct, the Gcon's were JUST launched and the first few will be shipping shortly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Buy a GCON, and review it so no one else will ask //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ull b glad you did. Put that hoe in 2cu^ft-2.2 net at 33Hz and throw 1K at it. Let it beat

I got a free box from a friend, specs are ~2.5 @ 40hz. Do you think a 15 would sound decent, at least for the time being? The box is only temporary. Gonna be giving it about 900w.

@denim 40Hz too high?

That tuning sounds a bit high, sorry 2cu is for a 12 not 15. a 15 really needs more like 3cu^ft, but as a temp box i figure it should be fine. Idk how good its going to sound though

You really need like 3cu^ft @ 32Hz

I know it. He was running a 15" Type R in it while he had it, I could tell he wasn't getting everything out of it..but he gave it to me, so I'm not gonna complain. I plan on getting a custom box built in the future.

It is a little higher then I prefer, but that does not mean you won't like it. There are a few brands out there that suggest tuning in mid 40's on their daily nonspl subs.
