Exhaust Question..

I have a 97 Nissan 200sx.. I currently have a 4in GReddy muffler on it.. its deep but its not that loud. My car is an automatic.. I know. But I've heard auto's get loud and have drove some that are. My question is.. do I have to get a whole new exhaust system or is there another brand that I can get that is louder that is just the exhaust muffler?

I dont want the insanely loud/annoying type.. just something that can be heard.

i have apexi cat-back

not too loud and not too quiet..

also have a warpspeed y-pipe... makes it a little louder

not sure what you could do..

maybe add a magnaflow muffler? i heard those were real nice.

also im dring a 96 maxima.

i had an 85 z28 camaro that i ran straight pipes off of the header with no muffler and it was pretty loud. got pulled over for it a few times. if you mufflers are not welded on just help on with clips than take them off and see how you like it.

also i agree with whoever suggested magnaflow i hear that they make some nice mufflers.

Did you change the size of your pipes. If not go with a good 3 inch pipe, and if thats not loud enough, like was already suggested, take off the muffler. lol. I believe thats legal as long as you leave a catalytic converter on.

It also depends on what type of sound you're looking to achieve. You probably want the high pitch rice burner sound. If thats what your looking for dont use a magnaflow, those are low rumble sound systems. I would suggest a flowmaster 40 series over those anyday of the week.

I wouldn't go as large as 3 inches unless your car has a turbo. I'd probably just get 2.5 inch mandrel bent piping going to the muffler.

Individual pipe off of each exaust port, each of the four pipes exiting just behind the passenger side front tire in a nice little row. When you pass people their car's body panels will flex from the noise.

2.5 inch pipe all the way back with your muffler would yeild the best flowing exhaust for more power, who cares about how many people you want to annoy
