Excelon Comps?

How are they?!

... more specifically, the 6.5"ers (model KFC-XR61P).

I'm desperately searching for some nice 6.5" comps... was trying to decide between Infinity 6.1 and Alpine Type-X... how do the eXcelons measure up to these two? Which would you recommend?

Heard all three of them:I would take them in this order

1)Kenwood

2)Alpine

3)Inifinity

The Kenwoods are actually very nice. The Alpines are very close. Never really liked Kenwood all that much but these eXcelons are badass........

You haven't heard ANY of them?!

If not... what comp set do you think would sound best in a PT Cruiser with 1 12" Eclipse ALUM in the back? My bass is perfect for my liking so I'm not overly concerned with getting alot of bass from some new comps... now I just need some really clean and crisp highs... not glass shattering though.

it says that the eXcelons are 180 peak... how much wattage should/could I send to them safely so that they'd perform to their max?

I would send them the RMS wattage which would be about 90 watts...

I havent heard the excelon comps, but I have heard the infinity and alpine comps in a showroom. If I had to choose I would go with the Infinity speakers...

I would send them about 90-100 watts RMS. What amp are you running the mids with?

Well, right now the only speaker in my car that's not factory crap is my ALUM. I don't have any other speakers or amps. If I got the eXcelon comps I was considering getting the eXcelon 60 x 4 amp (for the comps and whatever i eventually get for the rear; probably some 6.5" Dual Mags)... but by what you said, would that not be enough power??? I wanted that amp because it would match the eXcelon 400 x 1 that I have going to my ALUM.

you guys would pick the Type X last???????? You would take infinity's over the type x??? ive never heard any of these...but thats kind of hard to believe. i thought the type x's were amazing. maybe you guys are thinking of the type r's??

The Type X are good too. I said the eXcelons and the Type Xs are very close. I picked the infinity last. The Type Rs are mediocre

I'm not gonna get the amp until I get the comps. I'm happy with my ALUM and I bought a Pioneer DEH-840MP a few weeks ago. Now I need comps and an amp to go with them. I REALLY want to get that other eXcelon amp for the comps when I get them... I'm concerned about how the setup is going to look. I'm eventually gonna get some fiberglass done in the back and I'd love to have 2 eXcelon amps mounted on either side of the ALUM or on either side of 1 centered back seat... as opposed to 2 different amps. So if you tell me that the eXcelon 60 x 4 will make the TypeX's, Infinities, or Kenwoods sound decent, then I'm definately going to go with it!!!

Seriously, not to be a nuisance with this stuff, but would it really sound good??? Or are you just saying that because it's what I want to hear?!?! I get the impression that it's at least gonna sound a helluva lot better than the factory stuff, but it won't be at it's peak potential.
