My new line-level preamp arrived...dual 12AU7's, individual volume controls for each channel, solid-state rectification (will change that as soon as I get a circuit figured out) and various mods. I've heard that tube amps put out a suprising amount of power. I met a guy in a pawnshop who used a 3 watt tube amp to power a 500 watt pioneer sub and it slammed real hard without blowing the speaker... Although I have nihl of my own experience.

Always curious about new ways to make noise- or in the case of your amp that you just built music....

tube amps are just amazing they are just really expensive.

If you look at dollars/watt, yeah they are...but overall, they're not too bad. You could easily spend much more on a solid-state setup.
