i just got a memory stick for my 8445 tonight. i set up the security code on the stick. then took the stick out, turned off the car, and turned it back on. and it worked fine...isnt it supposed to ask for the memory stick or at least ask for the security code?

I think esn only kicks on when you cut power to the deck...like if someone steals it (unhooks it from the battery) then the next time its powered back up it will ask. Thats how it is for the CD esn.. i assume the MS is the same.

oh ok. ****! i went out and bought a MS cause i thought it was gonna ask me for the key every time i started the car. i coulda swore i read that somewhere. oh well

I think that only the top models come with the memory stick. Look in the manual under the esn options. I set my 8455 with a cd, but I recall seeing options for the memory stick. It almost seemed like you can select how it come on. You would want something associated with the 12acc.

no, he meant the actual memory stick. but your right, only the 8445 and 8455 come with memory stick slot in the deck. but i dont think mine came with a free 32mb stick. i got my deck brand new with 3 year warranty from a local shop, so i dunno why it wouldnt be in there
