so i recently sold some movies for a friend on ebay. i get an email from the buyer today....she wants to use http://www.escrow.com to pay me. i went to ebay already not liking the situation, but i see the website is under ebay's "trusted" payment services. i'm personally used to using paypal for selling stuff, so i don't know what to do. i never heard of this escrow service, but of course the buyer is assuring me its safe and secure. can anyone explain? will i be posting a "omfg wtf i was ripped off!!!()*#" thread on here in a week if i do this transaction?

escrow.com is the only safe service out there for that. If it was any other I would be worried but I think you will be fine. just tell the buyer they are paying the escrow fees.

All that does is guarantee you both get what you are supposed to. She sends them the money and when they get it they tell you to ship the product. When she recieves and checks it out and gives the ok then they send the money to you. If she is unsatisfied then she has to return the product to you before they give her the money back.

i would def. check the headers of the e-mails you receive about the transaction, tho

make sure it's actually coming from escrow.com

you may even want to call them before you send the movies, and make sure it's a valid transaction id and stuff

be as skeptical as you think you should be, and then some

i've gotten fake fedex e-mails, fake bidpay e-mails, fake western union e-mails

people will scam you for little to no money, i don't know why, but people are crazy, i think it just gets them off for some reason

just make sure it's a valid transaction by calling escrow directly before you lose the movies

If you go through http://www.escrow.com you're safe. It's as safe if not safer than paypal, but it has the added bonus of being easier to recover in the event of a bad buyer/seller.
