throwin' hunnits, hunnits
I need an EQ for two reasons: my head unit only has one set of preouts and I have two amps, and it has a preout voltage of 1.8V, and turning up my amp to match that clips it to high heaven.

I was considering this, because it will match my HU.

Don't understand the difference between the two of these though.

Maximum Output Level: 7V RMS

Input Sensitivity: 50mV–4V RMS

I know nothing about EQs or tuning, so buying one and learning to use it will be a whole new experience for me. Would that make a good unit for my needs?

input sensitivity is similar to an amplifier's 'gain' setting. You match the input setting to your headunit's preamp output voltage.

output level is the output voltage.

HU voltage --1v-->>>> EQ input voltage (set to 1v)---->>>> EQ output, whatever you want it to be at most 7v though. Might want to play it safe and go with 5v, higher is better though, as it alleviates stress on your amp's gain.
