Equalizer decisions

I am in the market for an equalizer. I have been looking at about a five band eq with a sub control. I have looked at the Kenwood KGC-4042A and i really like the size because it will fit in a place that would be great for controling my system going down the road. The kenwood i have seen sells for at least $130 while a similar eq put out by power acoustik the peq-65 costs only about $40. Both of these two eq'a nd other very similar eq's put out by boss, rockwood and a couple others seem very similar but what i what to know is if i would be paying for the kenwood name or would the power acoustik be fine. The main issue i was worring about is distortion. any help would be good help.
