engine noise through left channel

I'm back with another question!

My right channel is fine it's only in the left. It's not terribly bad but it's noticeable, especially when the volume is all the way down. It gets worse the more I rev the engine.

I've read quite a bit on engine noise and none of what I've read seems to fit.

The left speaker wires just happen to be right next to the 12 volt power I ran to the amps, they're touching each other. Could it be generating interference to the speaker wires maybe?

Is it constant volume or does it get louder with the volume of the music? Is it just one speaker? Or is it the left side front and rear?
It does not change when I turn up the volume. It is constant in that respect. It does change when I rev the engine though (higher pitch). I only have two speakers set up, still installing it all. So, I have speakers in each front door. The left one has the whine and the right one does not.

Yea you do not want to put your power wire next to your speaker wires.. Keep them away from each other.. Maybe tuck the power wire under the carpet or some people have them under the car.

Swap rca's around and see if it follows the rca's. Could be interference, could be the amp. Put wire loom around the speaker wire or power wire. Does it do it with rca's unplugged?

It does not do it with the rcas unplugged. I tried the high pass rcas on it and it does not do it on those. I don't have anything else hooked up right now to see if I can replicate that on second rcas though.

So when I swap left and right rcas at the head unit, it does NOT change what speaker it's coming out of. I took it to the local car stereo place and they claim it's my rca cables. That's correct, right? I know this should be simple but I'm questioning myself on it, would appreciate if someone could verify the math.

To recap.

1. When I swap left and right at the amp, the whine moves to the other speaker

2. When I swap left and right at the head unit, it stays on the same speaker

use a set of known good of RCA's and run them over your carpet temporarily to your amp and see if the noise is gone. it sounds like bad RCAs but you need to see if that fixes it first.

Was the rca cable. Replaced it. All good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

One odd thing I thought I would mention is if I grounded the outer shield of RCA cable itself to the head unit chassis, the noise would go away. It seemed to me that meant for sure it was the cable itself but I'm not sure why, don't really understand why that would happen. Just noting it in case someone else finds it useful.

Infuriating. The problem came back with a vengeance after I completely hooked everything back up again. I even went out and bought very expensive RCA cables and replaced them all. I'm completely baffled. Again, though, if I ground the outside metal of the rca cable to the head unit chassis it completely disappears. I even ran a ground from the head unit to the chassis but it didn't do anything at all to make it better.

Also, it's on all 4 channels now not just one speaker. ******* I wish I would have just paid someone to do this. Want to punch a wall right now.

so after research I'm pretty sure it's a blown pico fuse. Seems like there is no great way to fix this.
