Electrolysis of Water

Any engineers that know much about it?

I'm wondering how much hydrogen I could produce using a speaker amplifier to power it up. Maybe a bad idea but im curious. I couldn't find much info on electrolysis using AC current. Most use direct current with a pulse modulator.

I'd like to add it to my car to have a gas/water hybrid. Supposedly it adds to the mpgz. ha

Any ideas?

you dont need an amp...just hook it up to your battery with a relay and a switch in your dash...unless you buy a ready made kit i would advise you not to do it...it is not easy to make one and i didnt see that much of a diff in my mpg...so i now just use it to air up balloons then blow them up lol

You wolud need alot of Juice to do so. You would have to use distilled water.
straight up distilled water barley works at all...you have to use a combination of salt and baking soda (the amount and ingredients in general is highly debated but you have to use some kind of additive)

yes because pure water isn't a conductor so an electrolyte is neccessary. I know an amp puts out AC. thats what would be different about my fuel cell compared to others. I wanted to know if ac current has any other effects other than the fact that both electrodes would produce hydrogen.
