eD Nine.1

So, whats the word on the eD Nine.1? Is it a good amp? Im looking for a amp to power the ever popular, 15 inch type R / TCAB Combo.. Basically i dont wanna go hifonics, because theyre overrated and i might run into problems with setting the gains, yada yada yada..

All i really wanna know is

1. Does the nine.1 put out 1200 TRUE WATTS @ 1 ohm, as its rated at, and isent overrated like hifonics?

2. Is it a good / reliable amp?

they are fairly decent. that 1200 rms is rated at 12.5 volts. If your cars electrical system put out more than that you will put out more power.

You'll be more than happy with that setup. Like what dalucifer said, a decent electrical system will make that amp put out more than what it's rated at.

How longs the wait? it says theyre backordered.. does that mean if i ordered one today ide have to wait like 2+ months to get it ?

fyi, I don't think there should be any difference setting the gains on a hifonics amp

nine.1's are very solid amps. I used to run two of them last summer.

In theory, there should be

You set your gains according to the mathematical equation way..

IE 40 watts x 4 = 160 / sqrt of that number = your voltage needed

Hifonics are overrated amps, meaning they dont push the power that theyre rated at

The only thing you have to go on when setting a gain on a amp is its RMS rating

So lets say i buy a hifonics amp thats rated at 1600 watts, but its OVERRATED, so it dosent put out anything near that.. so now i set my gains to 1600 watts because thats "the thing to do" , well now your clipping your amp because its not meant to put out that kind of power

ide rather set it to true watts instead of clipped watts

If you would have searched, you would have found quite a bit of information.

The 9.1 also comes with a three year warranty- if you buy a used one, or sell yours, the warranty transfers. $350 shipped new, obviously less used.

I owned one, had no problems.

Very solid amp. I had mine 4 about 2 months and I love it. (I'm pushing 2 d6's by da way.)
