ED 1/0 and Knu eKo 1/0

I had been planning on using Knu's eKo 1/0 cable for my big 3 and amp wiring, but just found out that they have discontinued it to be replaced by the KLM wiring. Even though the KLM wire is less expensive, I still wanted to use the eKo cable due to the fact that it is all copper, and has a smaller diameter (I wanted the smallest lump under the carpet possible when running power wire to the back of the car). Since the eko wire is nla, I figured I might try the ED wire since it is comparable in price.

So does anyone have experience using both the ED 1/0 and eKo 1/0? If so are they comparable in flexibility and actual wire size; or more importantly is the ED enetic power cable a true 1/0 cable?

Description: KnuKonceptz continues to blaze new trails for automotive audio enthusiasts with its new Copper Clad Aluminum Cable dubbed 'KLM'. Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA) is made up of 90% Aluminum and 10% Copper. Consisting of 5145 Strands of CCA the KLM Kable is equal in size to the Kolossus Kable, but is designed for lighter current loads and not lightening your wallet.
The KLM Kable 1/0 Metallic Blue Cable offers incredible flexibility and a rugged PVC outer jacket that is impervious to grease and oil. The PVC outer jacket can with-stand the extreme temperatures (-40 to 105 C) and capable loads of 250A.

By eyeballing - the eKo and KLM OD would not even be noticable, then add in the fact were talking about laying under a carpet.
well, when laying it under carpet in my situation, size can make a difference - thin carpet directly over metal chassis, however in your other post you mention that the OD is ~ 1mm larger so that is pretty negligable, I assumed the difference would be a bit more.

On a seperate note, I know that you have stated that the 2/0 copper clad aluminum conducts electricity as well as normal 1/0 OFC, but does the aluminum disperse heat better, and if so does this affect the performance of the wire? I guess the marginally better (if at all, not sure which is better at dispersing heat) heat dispersion wouldn't make any noticable difference over runs of less than 20ft.

Also, does the KLM/Kolossus wire fit into the 1/0 ring terminals that yall sell?

BTW, I have a 4 gauge kolossus wiring kit that I bought for my x600.1 and I love it, great quality and price, but I figure I should move to 1/0 now that I'm planning on moving to a bigger sub amp and amp for my mids/highs, as well as doing the big 3

to the OP:

what kind of vehicle are you running wire in? In my accord, the wire never goes under the carpet... its routed through the kick panel to the door trim, then from there it goes behind the rear seat bolster into the trunk...

so any diameter issues you're thinking about may be a non-issue...

The biggest things with wiring are the load and the length that load will travel. If you have a 200A load and only a 10ft run, you could easily run 4 gauge wire. Will 1/0 have less loss? Yes, but on you have the same loss on that 200A on 4 gauge at 10ft as you would 300A at 20ft with 1/0.

With the KLM you can go 300A, but we do not recommend it for 20ft. You will not see a difference in performance between the eKo and KLM, heat should not be a factor (if it is, you are drawing too much current through to small a gauge) What is the metal your amp heatsink is made out of? Aluminum....copper will disperse heat better, but if that is a factor you would have serious voltage loss at the end of the cable. Where there is heat, you have resistance. Using the wire charts found on most audio forums and our site, you will have less then 10% loss from the cable run. Heat should be a non-issue

Thermal Conductivity Copper : 394W

Thermal conductivity Aluminum 250W

Thermal Conductivity Brass (Material most blocks are based) 109

Porsche 944 turbo, interior is pretty bare compared to most standards nowadays, there really is no other way to route it other than straight under the carpet. Fortunately though I'll only run one 1/0 to the back via the driver side, and I can place it so that although it will be visible to me under the carpet, it won't get in the way, and most likely no one else would notice it unless it was pointed out to them.

thats what I figured, but being new to the car audio world I have to ask a few dumb questions.
