For all of his claims of human selfishness, he fails to recognize that the reason he calls for such drastic changes is in the vague impossible hope that HE will get to see this "new earth" he jerks off about in his own lifetime. This will all happen eventually in the same grand eventual scale that allowed humanity to rise up to this "earth-corrupting existence", but he doesn't care unless he gets to see it.

I don't think modern governments would allow groups of people to separate from the "mainland" without intervention. This would be especially true if the USA felt those people were being oppressed, even if it were their own choice.
