I just want to know how an eclipse aluminum sw8122 would match against a JL 12w6v2... or even a pair of the aluminums. Which would be louder in a sealed box ~1.15 cubic feet? Which of the 2 subs typically has better SQ?

edit: I've researched both companies but haven't found much on the specific subs, so anybody that has used or heard both subs please give your input.

im partial to eclipse.

only JL's ive ever dealt with are the w3v2's and w3's. ive got to listen to some w6v2's and w7's....all in all they're alright, but if you know where to look youll get the same qualit bu cheaper with eclipse...i also like the fact tha TC sounds makes those eclipse subs , and TC makes nice shit.

alright, I was considering switch over to JL but I'm looking at getting some sw8122.4's since I can't find a mate for my sw8122dvc.

depends on amp too... my buddy had one of the eclipse's in the back of a mustang as far as sq i'd go with the w6's its hard to get a whole lot cleaner than that without work and long tuneing... those eclipse are pretty **** loud though... they are both good subs like i said if ur wanting a bit more sq i'd go with the w6 but this one is a little bit person pref. actually the eclipse will probly do better in 1.15 cubes

I loved my eclipses in a small sealed box, haven't heard the w6s tho... I hear they are pretty sweeeeeet

I've really enjoyed all of the TC Sounds products I've owned (several TC built Eclipse and a Soundsplinter).

The W6v2 is a great little sub though.

If you wanted to stick with Eclipse-like products, you may want to check out http://www.tcsounds.com and http://www.soundsplinter.com (also built by TC) and see what all products fall into the same price range. Might be able to get a slightly better driver for around the same cost. But I don't know what the sw8122's sell for (the 88120DVC's I had MSRP'd @ $399 IIRC) or where you plan on buying them from.

Does anybody know what the TC equivalent of the SW8102 is??? I'm thinking its the TC9, because the motor looks the same, 12-spoke basket, dual 3-ohm coils, aluminum cone, etc. But the current TC9 comes only as a 12" or 15" and my SW8102 is a 10".

My SW8012 retailed for around $350 IIRC. I got a pretty good deal on it because the shop I bought it from was dropping Eclipse. Never did get a chance to install it though.

Isn't the TC1000 based off the TC7 as well? Meaning that his would then be similar to the new TC1000?
I believe the TC7 uses a 3" coil while the TC2+ uses a 2" coil.

And since the TC-1000 uses a 2" coil, my presumption would be it is based on the TC2+
