Hey guys, i was looking at two amps. If you have been keeping up, i've been through a journey with this. But, i saw that i really liked the Eclipse 34230. But as i was looking around i ran into DA having a D7 amp that was just as nice. But i cant get a price for the DA. Also. Does anyone know someplace i can find one of these two amps? the lowest i ahve seen for the eclipse is about 450 (ouch). And i have no idea for the DA. They will be pushing my two Adire Shiva's at hopefully about 400ish watts @ 4ohms. Sounds good?

Well help out if you can.

thanks

Be warned, the 34230 isn't very flexible. It can not be ran below 4ohm per channel, and it can not be bridged. Excellent amp other than the fact it isn't very flexible. I had one and absolutely loved it.

Also, Eclipse has no on-line sales. So if you get it online there will be no warranty.

How do you know it cant be bridged? How do i find out?

I have seen a couple online.. but kinda expensive. If i cant get it online.. i have to find a dealer?!

I know because I owned one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It says right in the manual exactly what I just said. It has to do with the way they designed the amp. If you can, do a search on some of the car audio mags websites. One of them did a test review of the amp a few years ago and has a pretty good explaination of why it can't be bridged.

A buddy of mine had one also, and an authorized shop installed his 34230 and bridged it. He didn't believe me when I told him that the amp can't be briged, and sure enough within a month one of the channels fried.

http://www.eclipse-web.com/cgi-bin/com/pdflog/cnt21.cgi/Amp_H.pdf - Go to page 8 and look at what it lists as the 34230's power ratings. It has a dash (-) through the 2ohm & 4ohm bridged power ratings because the amp can't be ran at 2ohm and it can't be bridged.

Yup, unless you want to test your luck, you're going to have to go thru an authorized dealer.

Funny thing is on the site they state it has a stereo/mono swith and in the PDF file they have measurements for distortion when bridged.

That has to do with the channels output. You can run the amp in stereo (where one channel outputs the L signal, the other outputs the R signal), in mono (where both channels output only the L signal) and in L+R summed (where it combines the L & R input signals and outputs the exact same summed signal from both channels).

If you want pics, later tonight I can get pics of the owners manual where it states that it can't be bridged and can't be ran lower than 4ohm per channel.

Don't need pics or anything, just stating what their site and literature says.

But, a summed input from the left and right channels would be a bridged configuration, while it looks as if the power does not change, hence may be the reason they state it can not be bridged.

So, ok...

The D7 is expensive as hell, and the Eclipse i cant find anywhere less than 450$.

Unless someone knows where to find a Used one or something. Any other ideas for Amps?

Im getting desperate.. i might just goto the cheapo brand cause of the headache this is.

So im looking always. i think imma make a list of the amps available in my range and requirements and see what u all have to say or something. ttyl

No, Boss is nowhere even close to the quality of Eclipse or Diamond.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5714108409&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT - This guy is on this forum. On here he was originally only asking $320 shipped, so maybe you could make a deal outside of ebay with him. Those PPI Art amps are badass, some of the best amps PPI has ever made. Power hungry little buggers because they are class a/b though. And the A1200 is pretty hard to find forsale. Here is the original F/S ad: http://forums.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=66231

Ok, just realized that you have 2 Shivas.......so you need either a 2channel with the power you want at 4ohm per channel, or a mono amp that can do the power you want at 2ohm. So, the Hifonics 1500 may not be a bad choice to look at. Should give you 900w @ 2ohm - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64573&item=5714066592&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Wow, Really?

****.. well i also rean across this MA Audio HK1397, ?

im kinda lost at this point

Those amps dont have enough power :-( thanks tho... i was looking for 400 or so 2 channel 4ohm..
