First, please don't tell me to search or research because I just spent hours doing plenty, but I think this is going to be a tough decision. That is why I now want your personal opinion.

Here's the deal...I just sold my Infinity 12.1D Sub to upgrade to a 12" sub better suited for MY AMP. I'm using a sealed box, 1 cu. ft, and I listen to mostly rock music. That being said, I guess I'm a little on the SQL side (Infinity SQL was quite nice). Do you think I'll be underpowering the 9500, since my amp's RMS maxes around 650W? Also, whichever sub I get, it needs to last me a while, because I'm not going to upgrade for a long time. I'm sure they will both last long, but does one of them have a negative aspect that may shorten its life compared to the other? BTW, I can get either one for the exact same price, so that's not an issue. Now I just want your opinion...

Thanks

Well, if you are using the same box, I would recommend looking elsewhere. From what I have heard about the MTX is it doesnt like small sealed boxes, and what i know about the Ti is that it doesnt either. The Ti is rated at 750wrms but even with that in a 4.3^3ft enclosure it wasnt being pressed to its limits, so in a small *** sealed box it would need so much more to reach the limits. I dont see the point in getting a driver that wont be used to the extent of its capabilities. I think that is how it would be with the 9500 also.

BUT, I only have experience with the Ti, so dont base your purchase solely on me, I know nothing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

both kick ***,both would sound better with the proper size amp and that infinity amp isint going to cut it for either of the 2 subs you mentioned - If you wanna run a super sub you should have a better/bigger amp

I own MTX and Eclipse and like both subs giving the edge to MTX - plus they have awsome support while Eclipse has NO support

i guess i'm lost on the "support" issue you are talking about... how does one sub have more support than another??

eclipse subs are highly priced... but the last time i checked, the 9500 is too...

point being... 9500 will be crazy loud and sound good in the right enclosure...

TI will get crazy loud and sound good in the right enclosure...

both subs will not dissappoint you IF put in a bigger sealed or i'd go ported tuned real low, like 28 if you like rock... with no personal experience whatsoever with either driver I can't recommend a driver... but my advice is, build an enclosure to each subs specs and you'll be happy

No support at Eclipse? What happened to Vannin Gale, isn't he there any longer? Educated at London Polytec, he's quite well versed to offer undoubtedly some of the best possible advice one would need when operating within the realm of subsonic AF.

Don't buy either of those two pseudo-SQ woofers, instead go with 2-4 IDQ10s and wire them in series/parallel within an enclosure designed with the golden rule in mind.

Many joyous cerebral contusions!

If your stuck on using the 1 ft^3 sealed enclosure, go with the 9500 because the are a little suffucated in sealed enclosures becuase of their higher Fs and low Qes. However stuff it in a vented box and get ready for some of the deepest, most gut wrenching bass you have heard.

I dont have any experience with the 9500's however I sell and install the Eclipses, W7's and others. I would say that the Ti diffinently holds its own, and thats why I bought one over the others I could have had.

I say go out to a few car audio shows and try to take a listen to both before you purchase, and build a proper box/power or get differetn drivers.

I'd love to go to a car audio show and listen first-hand, but that's not an option. I'm also an avid user on a paintball forum and us experienced guys always tell the beginners to go to the local proshop, test some guns, and decide which one suits them best. Similar situation. Anyways, the only reason I'm keeping the box I already have is because I have limited space. I drive a GM Sierra ext. cab and I'm keeping the rear bench. If I were trying to have the most bass in the whole town, then I'd definitely remove the bench and get dual subs w/a custom box, along w/a more powerful amp. However, I just need something more powerful than my old Infinity sub and I want something that I'm guaranteed not to blow.

Thanks for the comments that everyone has provided so far.

For the power, why not go with the Eclipse Alum's? From what I have heard they sound really good in smaller sealed enclosures and their more suited to your power range.

JPlus ya might be able to save a few bucks.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

yea u will be underpowering eaither sub i my friend has a 9500 12 and it sounds goods and its pretty loud but he has it ported with alot more power and even though the rms on the eclipse is 750 i hear they can handle alot more. I think eaither would be a good choice but at least make the box a lil bigger maybe add a cube 1 is really small.

I think for your application, an MTX 8500 would better suit your taste. You will be underpowering that sub a decent amount. If you want to put a sub to its full potential, get an 8500. Those wang rather well, especialy for the size box you are going to put it in.
