Eclipse Ti damage to surround what to do

So what was wrong with the titanium cones? the reason im asking is that I just picked up a 9152 and should be getting here in a few days. Is it random, or is there a design flaw?

nothing wrong with them, the foam was stiff, not stretching so over time it was prone to tear.

the foam used is good against UV, bad against cold weather or temperature changes (its not too stretchy, so it can crack)

If I wasn't at work right now I would take a picture of my Ti, which btw TC did a recone for about a year ago. It ripped again. It works, but only with several (a lot) layers of silicone holding it together. Peridically the silicone gives and it needs to be reglued but, if you dont want to be without bass for a while its a good temporary solution. I mean, its a lot of glue....the tear in my surround is about 5" long.

Its actually a real shame, thats a lot of viable subwoofer parts that still work. VC, spider, cone, everything in tact except the surround. Eclipse laughed when I asked about a new top assembly. Actually didn't even know what I was talking about untill the third person I talked to. Why they would ever advertise a replaceable part that they never intended to make availible is beyond my understanding.

I'm not sure why, or how I got TC to send me a new top assembly last year, but clearly doing it again is not an option. I mean, its a threaded basket too, wouldn't it have been nice if we could all just put a TC3k top on our motors? But we can't. Its not like I want to get rid of the sub, I'm using it held together with glue, I just would have hoped for a better solution than using it as an ash tray...or selling it to one of the people on here. I guess my point is that its a shameful waste of parts when roughly 90% of the subwoofer works fine, and they weren't "cheap" to begin with.

But yeah, silicone glue, works sorta, try it. (use lots)

Ive used something called shoe goo and it held ok for a while, its still loud but it sounds like shit compared to before. I read up on robot underground gonna see what he has to say. I can't really afford another hi-end sub right now so yea I'm gonna get a type r. I already have owned several type r 15" subs and they are great for the price. So I'm stuck between not having bass and having bass with a type r I pick the r.

Hopefully robot underground puls through though.

Thanks hunter that should do perfect. And robot Underground told me he can recone it but its kinda pricey $235 for the kit and he said he could just send me a new top assembly but I haven't got the price from him yet. He even answered my e-mail in less than 24hours which is **** good in the car audio world.

Yeah, I ordered one of those surrounds as well...now hopefully I have the skill to install it. I am curious how close a match this surround is to the one that came on the sub originally. It looks good, almost too good which makes me skeptical.
