hey i have 2 10 inch eclipse aluminum subs (SW8102.4). i dont know much about subs but i bought them from some kid ino. the thing is online it says they are dual coil but my subs only have one connect on each of them. also, on the other side there are the holes where the other connection should be yet there are no connection. i thought it was normal cuz it was on the both subs but im thinking its not. they work fine and actually sound really good but im thinking im not gettin the full potentional out of them.....what do you think....

you have the single voice coil model..... to save money and time sub companys have the wholes allready punched out for the second voice coil, it saves them from having to machine the dual voice coil side seperate........... if its gonna be a single voice coil sub they just dont use the mount for the second.... so your gettin what u can out of em and u got nothing to worry about

ok cool.... just one thing. when i put in the model number on the bottom of the sub, the dual voice one comes up online. does that mean that mine is not 500 watts rms. im not sure

yea that is weird, i got the dvc model too........ the sub might have the wrong stamp on the magnet..... but each voice coil can handle 250rms a piece, thats how the dvc model is gettin the 500rms rating. 2 x 250rms per coil= 500rms when both coils are hooked up, so with you i would say its 250rms 500max

both the DVC and SVC models handle 500w Rms. The major difference it that the SVC model provides a load of 4 ohms while the DVC can be either wired in series to provide an 8 ohm load or parallel to provide a 2 ohm load. Since you have 2 SVC subs at 500W Rms each your power requirement is 1000W Rms at 2 ohms if the subs are wired in parallel or 1000W at 8 ohms if they are wired in series.

I would recommend wiring them in parallel and use a Crossfire VR1000D monoblock

so is there a beefier coil on the svc sub? cause most dvc subs whatever the rms is divided by 2 is what each coil can handle unless it states otherwise, i just thought that since the dvc sub was 500rms that the svc sub, being the same series, would just be able to handle 250rms since it only has one coil to distribute the power.........
