Eclipse? Ipod? Compatible?

i love my ipod video. i really don't use the video function... it stays in my car most the time, but it's good to know it's there lol

it just works a lot nicer than the old one. everything about it is nicer and better.

yea so i guess ill chill for a while in buying an ipod and just wait till eclipse catches up with the other big boys. i heard they tend to be the last ones in the newer technology thats coming out.

Eclipse is typically 2 years behind...maybe in 2007 they'll have an iPod unit that will work as well as Alpine's interface with the 9833/35 units.

Eclipse isn't really behind but they are on some things like ipod intergration and satelite radio. They focus more on sound and quality than getting on the latest trend. Hell I would rank their AVN units as the best after market navigation. Especially in the double din units. Those things work excellent, look good and the build quality is just amazing.

as good as any, that is what i use for the eclipse decks i have, the cable is mini jack to cd changer.

Actually, one thing that Eclipse is ahead on is the use of flash memory sticks...now if units like the 8445 and 8455 could use larger than 128 MB, and could read MP3 off of them, I might be interested.

Personally, while the iPod is a nice unit, I don't see any real reason to use it in car if I could use a 3-4 GB flash memory card. They're still pricey now, but they're coming down.

^^ yea that is a very great feature bro. its a very easier way to update your songs, to play them and more organized. I bet soon they will start to upgrade to 30 gb mem cards.

That unit is just the 'brain' for the ipod to HU. Look on ebay, you will find the actual wire that allows the use of that unit and the eclipse deck.

From what I've read about that unit, functionality will be abysmal at best, but it will work. Pretty sad Eclipse didn't come up with their own...

Typically websites aren't updated that often. I already have pricing and availability on that unit (talked to the PAC guy the other day). Its shipping supposedly now, just the website is usually the last priority (especially with SEMA and CES so close together it's not a priority).
