Eclipse Head Units

Awhole lot better. I own the Eclipse 5441 ( last year version of the 5442) and I own the Pioneer DEH-p6300. The Eclipse wins hands down, unless you need all the little gadgets and pictures. But to tell you the truth, some of the settings on the pioneer cancel each other out causing horrible output.

no, not necessairily. see the eclipse HU's put out true power unlike most HU's. they are rated by their volt output not by the watts. The signal you get from an Eclipse is very clean. I have both sets of my Eclipse coaxials running off of my HU (which is a 5441, last year model of the 5442) and they are very clear and loud. Now if you want to run an amp go ahead, but you don't have to. get the HU first and listen to the sound. Then decide if you want an amp or not.

eclipse head units, at least in my experience.. are overpriced crap boxes. i've had 2 5442's in 2 different vehicles, and i make pretty long trips almost every week or every other week *(2 solid hours of driving)* and they would get HOT.. when i say hot, i mean hot enough to burn the edges of the cds. they also would chip off the top layer of cd art on non-store purchased cd's, so burnt cds, etc... i had many problems with the flip down face shorting out and not wanting to sit flat as well.

as of right now i have a 5442 where the flip down face siezed up, and wont work. 3rd time the same unit has gone back to the shop. frankly there are better units out there. with better features, for less money.
