Eclipse Finally detachable...

At least on their new AVN7000 flipout Navi/DVD unit. It of course lives up to all of Eclipse higher quality standards as well as having all the typicals..CD/DVD/MP3 and an onboard 20G HD & Memory Stick Duo. This would of course not be a doubledin , but is a flipout with detachable panel with front display while the unit is closed.

Of course this is an All in one unit. No hideaway brain crap.

seriously how many times do you remove the faceplate and bring it with you. I can count the number of times on one hand on my alpine9835... I (and most that come into our shop) just toss the faceplate under a seat or in the center console.

If they do add a removable face plate, (I dont care either way) they had BETTER keep the ESN....

It is a ";06" model and currently in production. According to my rep theyre "supposed" to be starting shipments in November. Although with Eclipses track record I wouldnt hold my breath.

ESN is still in effect on these units.

I don't miss a faceplate really. The radio is secured quiet well, so if anyone really wants to get it, its not gonna be just a grab and dash. Hopefully they won't even bother when they don't see all the shineys on it that they'd associate with a normal hi-end radio.....

All in all, the detachable face isn't all its cracked up to be anymore I don't think. Just my .02c!

everytime i leave the car.....

Same here. 2 of my buddies got their decks ripped out of their dashs and it wasn't pretty. Sure they got offered a replacement but they didn't bother. It wasn't worth loosing their car again for a couple of days to get a new dash.

EDIT: Thieves are aware that most of us leave our faceplate somewhere in the car but i would suspect that they are probably thinking " wounder if it's

a good deck or a jensen?"

I take my faceplate almost everywheres... so I'd say like 90% of the time I take my faceplate with me... That is the most important thing for me. I go to a school where car stereo gets stolen like crazy... So this is all good news to me

always put mine in the console unless im just running in somewhere and coming right back. i never knew eclipses werent detachable, i'd have been PISSED if i'd bought the 8055 i was looking at without knowing that.

Well, give it up brah! Please do tell us what are some of the neat 06 features coming out for 2006 US models? One thing I want to know is will they redesign the faceplate for the flagship CD models...
