Eclipse ECD-415?

The 8051 should be a little better compared to what was available back then. Ipod's weren't even thought about back then. IIRC, the 415 had 4 volt rca's with 55 ohm RCA's. Depending on what you are wanting would determine which one to go with.

SQ? More control?

The 8051 should have more control, and I think it has an 1/8" input from the back. The 415 doesn't have any extra source options other than a changer. Both are going to work well, with the 8 volt of the 8051 sending more voltage and may make things a little better if noise is an issue. I know one of the 8 series decks, the 8443 had the option of a pro mode for some serious sound control, but I think the 8051 is a little simpler.

Obviously I haven't answered your question. What do you want to know? SQ is going to be a matter of opinion, but the 8051 does have better specs. If anything, the ECD may have more problems reading CD's, since the transport may be worn out, and the laser may be dusty.

Ok let me shine a little light on the this matter. The Eclipse 41x series and 510 has what is consider to be one of the best transports ever made for car audio no matter what when it was built period. And the 416 and 510 is two a very small group of decks thats will send the tuner output out of their digital output

When it comes to more control it does not mean better sound. To be honest if you look at what is consider to be the best sounding decks ever built they have no sound processing built in, ever heard of the Alpine 7909.

Don't get me wrong you have the DRZ9255 which has set the new standard for all in one decks and the Eclipse 8053 is another one. It is getting a lot better as time and technology goes on.

If its is in good condition as you will be hard press to find a better sounding dead head.

Man just blow my chance at buying this one from you!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

O YA, it will read any store bought CD with no problem and it even reads CD-R's just fine, and that is great considering when these decks where manufactured.

Sorry no MP3's, but you can buy a adopter to make an Aux in to send an input signal in the deck for your Ipod on the the ones with Changer controls.

OK a couple more things.

1. The output voltage is only 2.7 volts not 4 volts. Kind of low, but should be a problem in a well design system. If you what a hotter signal run it into a high quality line driver.

2. The output impedance is 22 ohms (330 ohms for the ECD-414) not 55 ohms or 33 like I PM'ed you. Now this is a great spec. Can you say a super clean signal.

I know all the specs because I have a original dealer's color hand out for the ECD-414 and ECD-415 with all the specs and the original owners manual for them.
