Eclipse, clarion, or other?

The Eclipse has better tuning options than the Clarion.

7band peq > than 3 bandpeq. Not sure of the xover slopes on the 955 but the 8445 has 6,12,18,24db slope options.

Doesn't make a difference if you use quality outboard processing. I mean who needs a 7 band PEQ if you have a quality 15 or 30 band graphic in the trunk?? Who needs a deck with 900 different crossover settings and slopes if you have a quality outboard crossover?? I know that was off base a little but it is a valid point.

It is a valid point IF you have quality outboard processing, but many(dare I say most?) people who buy a deck with onboard eq are looking to NOT have to buy extra processing. Your point seems pretty much irrelevant to this conversation. You want to compare pioneer to eclipse, but when the eclipse is mentioned as having more flexible eq, then that feature doesn't matter?? You can't cherry pick what features have more value TO somebody else.

It all comes down to what you, as a consumer, place value on. I don't have any outboard processing.

deck>amps>speakers....that is the chain.

Maybe I will go with some processing some day if I deem it necessary.

Excuse me. I did say it was a little off base didn't I ?? I'm not trying to cherry pick anything. It was my opinion and nothing else. I wasn't comparing any EQ to anything. I was merely stating that outboard is a better option. Off base or NOT is still a valid point.

You were comparing onboard processing to outboard(who needs a 7 band eq, etc). Outboard "may" be a better option. To me, it would be, but to some people, controlling everything from the head unit is what they want(and they may be willing to give up some quality to get it).

WhoTF is talking about 'outboard processing' and whether if if its better than built in DSp in this thread?

The truth is the Eclipse manages to deliver superb SQ even with all DSP...all in one chasis. Who needs that? Alot more people than those who 'need' a separate 30 band graphic.

I know that was off base a little but it is a valid point.
Off base ? oh yes..

Valid point? Not quite since its not part of the discussion.

A valid point would be the higher chance of adding noise, whether it be alternator whine or introduce a ground loop by adding more hardware . Even a quality analog unit degrades the signal to an extent. Aside of the real valid point- not everyone has the budget, space, need or knowhow to invest in further components that they dont need in the first place.

Since you're the SLOW person in the forum I'll tell you. It was ME. There, now you know.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Actually it was part of the discussion because I brought it into the discussion. Even if If I hadn't brought it into the discussion it is STILL valid and I've already explained and admitted 3 times now that I was a little off base and I won't explain this anymore. Get a fuckin life and learn to accept someone elses opinion even if you don't like it. Suggesting that outboard processing is better than all-in-one is a reality not worth being debated. I brought it up because that would be a better option then trying to find and pay top dollar for a head unit that does everything when you can find decent deck and use outboard.

I wash my hands of this thread since you can't play nice.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

imho thats all i ever read about in your posts, busting a nut whenever anyone mentions arc or eclipse and cutting down just about everything else

First of all STFU and mind your business. Adam knows how we do, matter a fact we were due for a lil' *****in'//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif All in all i respect his opinion, afterall it is his and he has his preferences.

If its something I have an opinion on , that is relevant to the topic at hand I will express it....

what have I 'cut down'? without me posting reasons for my point of view?

The only thing i posted prior to Adam and I's OT post was...

All i did in this thread is state the obvious factual differences between the units mentioned.
