Eclipse CD8443??

I can get one locally for dirt cheap. Was manufactured in 2003.

I remember those HUs a little bit because one of the installers at a local shop was running on in his car and trying to get me to purchase one.

I was wondering would it be worth it? Ive done a search here and online but would really like somemore info on the HU esp from people that have used it. Thanks.

Very good head unit!!! I have used them in competitions and had much success with them....WILL NOT play MP3's.....

Great HU indeed. Wish I didn't sell mine. Can be used for going active as well.

Alot of nice features though, but the mp3 thing is just too important for me.

Really? How many cd's do you burn in mp3 format? personally. i don't like that compressed garbage.

It's a awesome deck. top of the line back in the day.

I wonder if there is some software update from Eclipse that would allow it to read mp3s? Or am I just being opistmic, lol?

I loved that HU. So much I went through two of them. Using an 8053 now. They will play mp3s with the elipse commander unit hooked up to it. Never got one of those though. Getting one for $55, that's highway robbery.

Quick question for the experts.

I currently have the CD3421 installed (since 2001). I'm looking for an easy upgrade path. I know the 3421 uses a 16-pin wiring harness that also works on the CD8443 (per eBay seller). Would it be safe to assume that HUs that use the same harness would be a simple switch and plug? Thanks in advance.

i just switched from a cd3422 to an 8443 and the plug was exactly the same. question for anyone that's ran an 8443 active. when i turn the low pass on the mid to anything steeper than 6db/octave, i get a very noticeable boost in bass that gets louder the steeper the curve. it's almost equivalent to turning the loudness on without the treble boost. anyone else ever had this happen?

At $55, I'd have been all over it. I got one for my wife and paid $150 for it just last summer.

BTY, it WILL play MP3's you just have to have that voice command or whatever that thing was called to do it.

Mine reads MP3's and displays how many tracks are on it, but it wont play them.
