Why have 8v if amps don't go that high, or do they??

It puts out 8v at full tilt. Its the same principle of wire. You loose voltage over distance. You can have an head unit that has 4v preouts but your amp is really seeing 2. The higher the better

Im sure someone can give a better technical answer. But ive never had an issue with an amp from giving it too much signal
