Eclipse CD5435 - A Few Questions...

I am fairly new to all this and I figured this would be a good spot to ask for help. I currently had a car audio place install my equipment and after having it for a while I have a few questions about the head unit itself.

My current system consists of:

Eclipse CD5435 Head Unit

JL 500/1 Amplifier

3 x JL 12W0 12ohm speakers

As far as I can tell everything sounds fine, but there are a few options that I do not have a clue about..what does it do and what if any are the recommendations of the forum for these settings

Audio Controls Mode:

1. Non-Fader (Currently set to +2)

2. Source Volume Control (Currently set to 0)

Sound Adjustment Mode:

X-OVER-FR (Currently set to 100hz)

X-OVER-NF (Currently set to 80hz)

Non-Fader Phase Selection (Currently set to Normal phase)

Thanks for any help, sorry if these questions have been asked before...I do appreciate the help.

Ill handle this one!!

Ok, your non fader adjustment controls the output level (through the rca cables) to your amplifier, increase it from say +2 to +5 and your signal strength will increase, therefore, louder sound. That is if the amp RCA's are hooked up to the non fader output on the back of the headunit like they should be. That adjustment will only work if the amp is hooked up to that output. Its called non fader because it isnt effected by the fader, imagine that.

The source level adjustment adjusts the sound of each mode, such as AM, FM, CD, and AUX input. If your listening to a CD and it sounds good and loud, but then when you switch to FM it is less loud volume wise, you would adjust your FM volume level with this feature to make it the same as when a CD is played. It pretty much just lets you level out the sounds of each mode. If your CD level adjustment was at 50 and the FM at 70, then the FM would always sound louder at a given volume, and vice versa. Hope that makes sense. I just left that adjustment at default.

Your X-OVER-FR is correctly set at 100hz, that just means that no frequencies lower than 100hz will get to your front speakers. If you someday get a component speaker system for your fronts you might set it to PASS because component systems usually come with their own crossovers.

Your X-OVER-NF is also set correctly to 80hz, this means that no frequencies above 80hz will get through, and the NF stands for Non-Fader, so this controls the signal being sent to your amp if it is hooked up to the non fader jack on the headunit, and remember, that signal strength is controled by the non fader adjustment, the one you say you have set on +2.

Non Fader Phase selection is just that, it switches the phase of the signal to the non fader output (your amp if connected to the non fader output) . It is either at 0 degrees or 180 degrees, id really have to go into depth to explain what phase control is used for, like time adjustment and reverse mounting subs and all of that, But to save you some time, ill just say leave it where it is at NORMAL, until told otherwise.

Well, hope all that helps.
