Eclipse CD5030

interesting, I didnt realise the manuals read 25w, kind of doubt it but if that IS the case, then I'd go with the manual. It's not going to make much of a difference at all, one way or the other, unless you have stock or ultimately shitty speakers I'd get an amp for them anyways.

No, 14w vs 25w won't make much of a difference. Both numbers are just so low when it comes to power ratings. Something like 35w vs 100w is something to be more concerned about. Your HU's amp is not something to worry a whole lot about when selecting a unit. Make sure to get as many features for your money (BT, USB, EQ controls more robust than just bass and treble, etc.), because you can just add a better amp later. Check the classifieds here for some good prices on nice stuff. A lot of members have a bunch of positive feedback/references.

Your HU should make your stock speakers sound a bit better.

Well, for me, it's that my stock HU is somewhat broke...so having a correctly operating HU will be the biggest plus for me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I just realized though that the CD5030 doesn't support AAC files via the USB memory sticks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Not a dealbreaker - I can always convert them to MP3 - however it's certainly not a selling point....especially considering the Clarion FZ709 does.

Aside: Do all these HU manufacturers get together and pick the things they'll each do uniquely, and bargain on what they'll leave out? It seriously should not be this hard to find a HU that's got everything...

Depending on where you dealer falls in eclipse's network.....if have backorders they "should be fulfilled by the end of this week"...new orders will be fulfilled by the end of the month on this unit....

From my rep...

That was what I was planning to get actually, it was definitely my first choice. Then I read the manual, and confirmed with Kenwood Support, that the right wheel button works in a backwoods manner...and one that I find totally F'ing annoying and unusable.

See, instead of making the right wheel button work properly, where turning it clockwise/counterclockwise moves you up and down the AM/FM band or up and down the tracks in folder you're in....instead they make you have to push the right wheel button left/right. If you happen to accidentally rotate the wheel when you're trying to push it...sorry, now you're into a menu instead of doing what you wanted to do.

Now, when it's mounted on the wall that works just fine....mounted in your car, in traffic, driving, well....for either my brother or I, it's just not a pleasure to use at all; and we both know this as he has a KDC-X891...same control setup.

After the idiocy that is his -X891 right wheel control, I swore off that type of setup forever. I prefer the left+right wheel decks...but, only when the right wheel works properly.

You can't imagine my disappointment when I found that the KDC-X993 was setup like that... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif :( //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
