eclipse cd5000

Right now i have a JVC AR-880 but i want to step my preamp voltage up from the 5V it has. I know the cd5000 has an 8V preamp, but is it an overall better receiver?

I don't know if it's a better reciever overall but Ive had the cd5000 and can tell you it only does 5v unclipped, the output will be clipped if your looking to get 8v out of it.
