Actually, both the 7000 and the 5000 drops down.

They both do the far drop? So they changed them after the 5405-8455 series?

Edit: Okay, so it turns out that my car can't fit anything where the face moves, because the reciever is in a slow that goes pretty far in, and it won't be able to open.

II'm going to make a new thread, so this one doesn't get anyone off track. So that means I don't get eclipse... sad.

There is night and day difference between the DSP power of the CD5000 and CD7000 and its well worth the $50. I am an Eclipse fan but would not spend my money on a CD5000 unless putting in the wife’s car. She currently even has almost double the processing power from here current Alpine set-up.

The CD5000 is one step above entry level the CD7000 is top of the line get the drift.IMO

The CD5000 has limited EQ, T/A and x-over ability compared to the CD7000. You cannot buy the difference between the two in a stand alone unit for less than about 300 so $50 bucks difference is a **** good deal.IMO

This is all my .2 cents but I think many would agree with my statements. If not that's why they are IMO.

Sounds good, and If I had the option I'd get it, but it seems now that's not an option due to my car not accepting it.

You can mod the dash as an option. Sucks about your dash if thats the case you need something that has the open CD slot on the front with no swing down face pretty much.
