Eclipse BLA?

Well I got an Eclipse BLA 37601 to mate with my CD-8053 CD player. Has anyone used this thing? I was planing on using the CD Players Crossover but all I see are Front and Rear Inputs on this. But then it has 2 sets of front and 2 sets of rear outputs. It also has 2 more sets of unblanced inputs and 1 output. I was a little suprised since so many 8053 users, use this, that it did not come with Low, Mid and High inputs. Does this mean if I use this, I have to either use the amps crossovers, or get an outboard crossover to use this in an all active system?

When you turn on the pro mode

the front become the high

rear become the mid

sub out becomes the low

Once pro mode is on you have the 3 way crossover and timeallignment.

I thought you just pressed the Sound Button to Pro Mode to make adjustments.... Should I actually leave it on? I always turn it on to make adjustments, and once adjusted, I hold the sound button down again untill it shuts off. Am I supposed to leave it on? lol

Yes you have to leave Pro Mode on!!!

All the BLA does basically is bring the back of your deck out into your car near your amps. This helps reduce noise as the deck sends an unbalanced signal to the BLA and then the BLA inverts it to a balanced signal.

But yea you will love that hot signal man. Since using it, I have never had to turn my gains up at all. Currently I have my amps set at 0 gain and 16v sensitivity and can crank that baby nearly all the way up without the signal breaking up. I have NOT confirmed this with a DMM yet, so all you haters just chill mmmmk!!!

Hmm I wonder what I am doing wrong then... When I leave the system in pro mode, I can not turn the sound up nearly as loud with it off, without getting bad distortion in my speakers! I can turn the volume up to around 69 with it off, which is almost to loud for listening, and there is no breakup! I can only get it to around 54 with Pro On before the 5.25's really distort so bad they sound like the bottom out. What am I doing wrong? I do not have an ownersmanual for my 8053, so not sure what I am doing lol!

Reverse that. The BLA is used to convert the balanced RCA outputs of the HU into an unbalanced signal for the amplifier. This way you can run a balanced signal throughout the length of the vehicle (for rejection of induced noise), then convert it to unbalanced right before the amplifier (since most amplifiers don't accept balanced inputs).

I am using Arc Audio XXK amps if that makes a difference lol

IIRC they don't accept balanced inputs....so (in theory) the BLA should be a benefit to you. Just be sure to locate it as closely to the amplifiers as possible...meaning, don't install it in your dash or in the cabin...install it back with the amplifiers (which are likely in your trunk?).

Also, I believe the voltage output of the BLA is only 10V (which is still very high), but not the full 16V that a fully balanced system would give you with that headunit (i.e. running the balanced outputs out of the headunit directly into the amplifier, which is not possible with your amplifier or most on the market).

Have you ever measured yours Squeak?? I swear I've seen 14-16v (with a sine wave at 80/80 of course)

Time to go Zapco amps Tim for the balanced imputs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Never used a BLA personally. I was just stating what was in the literature //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But I believe those decks are capable of ~9.5V of output, whereas they're rated at 8V (never measured mine, just heresay)....so it could have a little more output voltage than rated.

Thanks. I thought I was backward when I wrote it but i think he got the message nontheless. I was kinda correct on the BLA inverting the signal.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What are your xover points in Pro Mode? Your are running active right??

Well right now I am in complete Tear down. All I am doing is running 1 set of RCA's out of the deck to a Arc Audio 2050XXK running a set of CDT ES520's using the CDT passive crossover. I took everything else out to sell, and before putting the new in, I am putting in a lot more sound deadening. Anyway, that being said, If I run the speakers out of Pro Mode they sound fine. If I put them in Pro Mode, they sound terrible, and the 5.25 gets really distorted quickly.

Sounds to me like the issue solely has to do with the settings. There is no reason, other than you have something set differently (such as the xover frequency, EQ settings, etc) that Pro Mode should sound worse.

Does that mean out of pro mode, any setting are negated, and what.. is the sound a company standard setting?
