Eclipse AVN vs. Pioneer Avic

I have been reading up mainly on the Eclipse navi. I am looking at the AVN5435. But I want to know how the D1/2 compares to it. I hear the AVN's navi is second to none. But can the Pioneer nav really be that bad? How is the sound quality of the Pioneer, I know what to expect out of the Eclipse since I already have one of their nonnav units in the car right now.

They are around the same price, but the Eclipse will play DVD's, and the Pioneer won't.

I'd probably go with the Eclipse...

But I think the navi on the D1 is easier...and i've dealt with the Avic N1 and D1 and they both sounded great...only downfall is no DVD playback and kind of difficult bypass...but a downfall on the Eclipse is the Speedsense has to be hooked up since it doesn't have a gyro

Yep.

It'll have to be bypassed, which is relatively easy to do on the D1/D2

May want to see if you can get a D1 as well- IIRC only difference between that and the D2 is software updates.

Eclipse is better. I have heard that you can't even use the nav on the pioneer once you are moving.

Have you used the Pioneer? Sounds like you haven't...

Yes, stock, out of the box, the Pioneer will not let you utilize all of the navigation functions unless the parking brake is engaged.

You can bypass this, however...and it is quite simple on the Avic D1/D2

Actually I ordered the AVN5500.

Now on the Ipod functions. I read that they ****. Anyone get the Ipod interface to show everything on the screen?

Or this would be easier if I could get my Ipod Video out to show the information when in Music. I can only get it to output the video and image right now.

I didn't think the Eclipse IPOD adapter would show video? I have the AVN6600 and didn't even think about trying it with the video, I just use my older mini.

i just bought the avn5495 plus cd changer and ipod adapter...i'll let u guys how it works in a couple of weeks...CANT WAIT!!!...double din plus navi...cant get no better than that
